I doubt it was from Italy, but it was outstanding. With slices of deep red ripe Jersey tomatoes, olive oil, salt & pepper, it is perfect. The cheese liquifies in your mouth. Dabbed on the pie after it emerged from the oven, it was simply decadent. I also had some to die for in Rome. I have not seen it locally.
